A young Nobu when he was 8 years old lived with his adoptive parents in the outskirts of Takigakure. He liked to explore a lot and he found a small group of ninjas, and thought they were very cool. A young Nobu decided he wanted to become a ninja when he was older. Another day, Nobu leaves at goes to look at the border of the Land of Fire and Takigakue. After he starts returning, he is intercepted by a ninja, who tried to grab him. Nobu was able to run away, but finds his house in smoke. He runs in to find his adoptive parents dead, with 2 ninjas standing over them. They knock him out.
Nobu wakes up, tied and gagged with many other children. A ninja tells them they will be soldiers for Takigakure, but they need some convincing first. He then tells the other ninja to begin Phase 1.
